The IMS Study Group on Musical Iconography was established at the international conference Musical Iconography in the XXI Century. Mapping European Art for Context and Meaning, held in Ravenna, 7-10 June 2006. It was acknowledged by the IMS Directorium at the end of June 2006 and officially located in the Dipartimento di Beni Culturali. The main goal of the Study Group is to promote scholarly exchange and to expand research in the field of Musical Iconography as part of Cultural, Historical and Anthropological Studies.
